An introduction into the phenomenology of the Other Novi Sad scene of the 1980s – a conversation with Zoran Pantelić

We are discussing the origins, social context and alternative music practices of the Other Novi Sad scene of the 1980s with Zoran Pantelić. The Other Novi Sad scene of the 1980s was a unique front of self-organized artists in Novi Sad which operated entirely within the private sphere – usually houses and apartments of its protagonists.

Founded artistic association Apsolutno (Absolutely) in 1993. The art collective was active in the nineties in the field of interdisciplinary artprojects and media pluralism (www.apsolutno.net). Apsolutno art production was presented in numerous exhibitions, festivals and symposiums in the country and abroad.
Since 1995 he participated in international symposia and conferences dealing with the culture of new media.

In 2001 he founded and since has been running the Center for new media_kuda.org dedicated to new technologies, art and politics (www.kuda.org). Since its founding Centar_kuda.org brings together artists, theoreticians, media activists, researchers from a wide field of interests: from studies of relations of production in culture, contemporary art practice and theory, urban planning, to criticism of new technologies and the socio-political themes. In addition to organizing lectures, conferences and exhibitions, kuda.org is the initiator and editor of the publishing project kuda.read.

Depending on the size of the research subject and the research fomat, Zoran Pantelić participates in collaborative practices as a curator, editor, producer, author, etc. – spanning various programs and productions: publishing, exhibitions, presentations and discussions. International character of his work can be seen in collaborative research and production with organizations with similar affinities from abroad, and at the local level in the focus on questioning problems in the field of cultural policy, local communities, spaces for culture, etc.
