The cataloging and guided tour of the exhibition “About Things: 25 Captions of the Center for Cultural Decontamination”

On Sunday, March 8th at 12pm The Center for Cultural Decontamination invites you to the closing of the exhibition “About Things: 25 Captions of the Center for Cultural Decontamination”, which marks the 25th anniversary of CZKD, within the project “Diversity in Culture and Activism”.

Within the exhibition, dedicated to the International Women’s Day, a cataloging of the CZKD Visual Art Program 2019 will take place as well as a guided tour of the exhibition “About Things: 25 Captions of the Center for Cultural Decontamination”.

There will be a presentation of the catalogue of the CZKD Visual Art Program 2019, “Art, Critique, and Politics”, with the participation of the authors of the articles: Stanković, Mirjane Dragosavljević, Jelen Vesić, Aleksandre Sekulić, Vladimira Bjeličića, mederetad by Dejan Vasić. In honor of March 8th, the International Women’s Day, the discussion will reflect the politics of the annual program “Art, Critique and Politics” towards feminist practices and art.

After the discussion, Dejan Vasić will moderate a guided tour of the exhibition with Staša Babić, archeologist and Ana Miljanić, director of CZKD and the author of the exhibition.

The exhibition “About Things: 25 captions of the Center for Cultural Decontamination” was presented on January 1st 2020, and developed over the course of the previous months in a collaborative action through an open call to the public to suggest objects related to the history of CZKD. Twenty-five objects, exhibited with stories about them, set in motion a collective effort towards the reactivation of the memory of CZKD, as a resource of civil society and independent culture in the region of former Yugoslavia.

The project “Diversity in Culture and Activism” is supported by EU/IPA – Civil Society Facility. In the two-year period (2020/21), the project will use forms of culture as a means to expand the public space in which civil society organizations and citizens can freely participate in public discourse, advocacy, community-building and decision-making on issues affecting Serbia’s democratization, regional relations and European Union integration.
