The informal group Šabačko pozorište o koncu was formed in response to the dismissal of a colleague, pressure on employees, and the negligent management of this cultural institution. After organizing numerous protests, street actions, strikes, and unsuccessful negotiations, most of the employees used their artistic skills to portray the past year of struggle for solidarity, dignity, and integrity in just one hour through the performance “This Is Not a Performance.”
The text and direction are signed by members of Pozorište o koncu, who are grateful to all friends, colleagues, and audiences—without whom this struggle would not have meaning.
We invite you to the first performance of this unique theatre-protest event in Belgrade.

BEFEM – AWARDS FOR FEMINIST AND WOMEN’S STRUGGLE
The feminist cultural center BeFem, after a one-year break, is organizing the ninth Bring the Noize award ceremony.
Despite the current political and social climate and growing repression, we believe it is important not to forget, and to symbolically celebrate, the struggles, victories, and voices guiding us toward the equal and just society we strive for.
The award is presented on the occasion of March 8, remembering the women’s struggles that marked the previous year and the women who, when the system fails, take responsibility, organize, and create solidaristic models and policies of work and action.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY – STEP OUT, STAND UP!
The collective “Osmi mart” invites citizens to join the March 8th protest march under the slogan “STEP OUT, STAND UP!”, to be held on March 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Republic Square in Belgrade. The Manifesto of this action can be read online.
As every year, CZKD participates in this initiative. After the march, at 6:30 PM at CZKD, the performance “Weaving Resistance” will be staged in collaboration with the Osmi mart collective and Hleb Teatar.
About the performance:
“Weaving Resistance” focuses on exploring women’s rights in the 21st century, while also reminding us of the importance of the struggle for human rights and values—including streets and urban spaces—through intergenerational musical theatre.
By researching the role of women in the antifascist and socialist movements, it becomes clear how much their contributions have been erased from official narratives. They are not taught in history textbooks and are mentioned only sporadically within narrow leftist and feminist circles.
This project emerged from a desire to create, through art, a space for rereading that history from a women’s perspective imbued with solidarity. It arose from the need to question imposed forgetting within today’s prevailing culture of oblivion, as well as the suppressed history of the women’s movement in Yugoslavia—particularly at a time when the very project of “Yugoslavia” is being diminished by official institutions.
At a time when women’s rights are once again being relativized, it is important to illuminate the moments when women were the driving force of social change—not as companions, but as leaders of struggle. Through theatre, we aim to revive women’s voices, their songs, dilemmas, strength, and solidarity, and restore them to where they belong: collective memory. With this performance, we attempt to capture what has long remained unspoken—the struggle, tenderness, losses, and dreams of women who built a future for all of us.
Hleb Teatar has spent the past ten years researching songs of antifascist movements, staging them in new arrangements. With “Weaving Resistance,” we wish to infuse the performance with these songs filled with hope, tenderness, determination, and momentum—for new generations who will encounter them through our project.

CHRONICLE OF REPRESSION – CULTURE AND THE DEFENSE OF EVERYONE’S RIGHT TO WORK
We invite you to a roundtable discussion: Chronicle of Repression – Culture and the Defense of Everyone’s Right to Work, bringing together numerous artists to discuss the challenges faced by Serbia’s cultural scene in recent times.
Participants include representatives of professional associations and other artistic organizations, as well as public cultural institutions from Belgrade and other cities in Serbia. Among others: Estela Radonjić Živkov (Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments), Milena Dragićević Šešić (Professor Emerita, University of Arts in Belgrade), Virdžinija Đeković (Association Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia), Pavle Pekić (Association of Dramatic Artists of Serbia), Igor Ranković (Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra), Darko Tomović (National Theatre in Belgrade), Borisav Matić (Ne: Bitef), Saša Ilić (National Library of Serbia), Gorana Ćurgus (Association of Music Artists of Serbia), Momir Pejatović (National Theatre Leskovac), Miloš Vojnović (Šabac Theatre), Gojko Božović (Arhipelag), Tatjana Rosić (literary critic and theorist), and many others.
Moderators: Tatjana Nikolić (Research Associate, Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade) and Ana Sladojević (Guest Curator, Center for Cultural Decontamination).
The immediate occasion for the discussion is the publication and presentation of the first phase of collected testimonies on forms of political repression in culture. The survey was initiated and conducted by the Arts and Culture Community, an informal initiative of artists and cultural workers founded in mid-2025 to more clearly articulate ongoing processes in the field of culture and society.
In the first call, around 40 individuals from almost all artistic fields completed the questionnaire on models and consequences of repressive measures by the current government. Although experiences vary, testimonies converge in a shared sense of increasing pressure to suppress critical speech and action in public space. Culture and higher education have been particularly targeted in recent months, which is why we believe it is important to be louder and more responsible in their defense.

On the anniversary of Zoran Đinđić’s death, the Foundation for the Advancement of Democracy “Ljuba Davidović” is organizing a panel discussion titled “The Speech That Never Happened – Memory as Obligation, Education as Future.”
The event is conceived as an intergenerational meeting, focusing on education as the foundation of social transformation—one of the central ideas of Zoran Đinđić’s political and philosophical thought.
