FORA

FORA – development of European cultural citizenship via culture-based debate and policy making for Action Plan on Integration

FORA (lat. forum, fora) establishes a transnational partnership of actors from Greece, Croatia, Serbia and Sweden, to stimulate and organize initiatives for the physical meeting between established (local communities) and newly-arrived European citizens (migrant communities), and focused on joint reflection, dialogue and direct participation in policy making about 3 Europe for Citizens plurennial themes.
The aim is to promote the mutual integration of these communities, via co-creation of positive narratives and policies about/for citizenship-enabled intercultural dialogue, solidarity and societal engagement, and mutual understanding – exercises of inclusive citizenship facilitating community cohesion and social belonging.
The physical meetings will take the form of temporary assemblies for co-creative democratic participation, designed by partners and based on cultural methods (1 cultural workshop, 1 open debate per country + 1 dissemination event/tool), hosted in public contexts within ongoing integration processes at different societal arenas (educational institutions, healthcare, migration and asylum authorities, NGOs and civil society). The involved stakeholders of each arena work as a constituency of the integration challenge from a local vs. European perspective, and participate in overlapping concrete policy making processes, to propose/discuss concrete solutions to address local integration issues through cooperation/coordination at European level, which at the same time become policy suggestions to the Action Plan on Integration being developed by DG Migration and Home Affairs (Strategic Plan 2016-2020).
The integration/policy results are compiled into a publication and publicly presented in a transnational forum, and become both a report of constructive storytelling for new citizenship and integration, as well as a policy suggestion manual – built through intercultural citizenship and participation, and advocating integration as a process of 2-sided mutual cooperation.
