Coda – To be Political

To be political here is neither posture nor slogan: it is a use of forms such that the intolerable ceases to be décor and becomes again what it should never have ceased to be: a limit that obliges. Jali mai and Paris est une fête do not supply answers; they institute conditions. They do not add noise; they do not speak “about” Paris: they work Belgrade, and Belgrade, in turn, works them. If a politics of fracture and presences takes shape, it is in this now of montage where a darkened theater and a bright city compose, for an instant, the dialectical image of a world that – through modest and obstinate deviations – begins again to bifurcate.

As Blanqui wrote: “Only the chapter of bifurcations remains open to hope.”
